We have no reason to fight Russia. The Europeans have 550,000 people. Let them die for Ukraine if defending Ukraine is so important to them. We have no reason to fund NATO. The Soviet Union collapsed more than 30 years ago. NATO has done nothing to stop the violation of our borders.Europe doesn’t even protect their own borders from the African and middle eastern hordes. The Soviet union lost 27 million people in World War II. Is it any wonder they fear military encroachment by NATO. JFK nearly started a nuclear war when the soviets put missiles in Cuba. Why are we surprised they see NATO encroachment as an endemic threat.
I wish Trump would walk away from Ukraine, NATO, and the UN.

Thanks for laying the cards on the table. The situation has been very confusing and I’m also trying to figure out what’s actually going on. The contentious White House meeting was the cherry on top of it all. I trust Matt Taibbi and his take - as I recall, correct me if I’m wrong or missed something- was that Zelenskyy showed up on short notice and tried to bluster his way forward and that T/V pushed back vocally when they realized he was trying to bull-rush them. As you know, Taibbi sided with them on that, but his take was very much in the minority, with most media commentators aghast at the rude reception he got. I still can’t figure out that one, but it does seem that Trump’s approach- to establish a new American commercial interest in Ukraine - could serve as a long-term deterrent to further aggression by Putin and do so without enrolling Ukraine in NATO, a big, well known potential rub to the Russians. I’m not a Trump fan but that seems like a promising path. I guess we’ll have to stay tuned!
Yes that was essentially Taibbi’s take. Will post those articles. And yes he was mostly alone. I had listened to the whole meeting and could not grasp what was really happening but when I read the transcript, as Taibbi recommended, it was much clearer. Also knowing the backstory of US involvement for decades helped.
It would be especially helpful for us to understand the facts about Ukraine corruption and US involvement in that. I stayed mostly silent on that until see more concrete proof.
There has also been chatter that US pressure tanked the Ukraine/Russia negotiations that occurred shortly after 2022 Russia invasion. Looking for proof of whether that is true or not.

As time went on, his administration became more honest that this was a proxy war to weaken Russia.
He also failed to share how his and Obamas meddling helped enflame this situation. It is impossible to come to any conclusions about this mess without knowing this information. In hindsight Bush’s, Obama’s and Biden’s strategy helped bring us to this point. Call it blame if you like, I call it necessary information to understand where we are.
I brought up the other influence campaigns to show the similarity in their deployment. That alone is a red flag we should pay attention to. I know you don’t believe saturating society with gender ideology is a real thing but after weeks of research and studying the trends I can assure you it is.
